In this class you can experiment with Japanese natural dyes to create your own sock yarn colours
The wool is Blue Faced Leicester sock yarn, and will be steam bundle dyed in the class. The dyes are sourced from a Japanese dye supplier and include Biwanoha (Loquat leaf) and Kuchinashi (Gardenia flower pods).
All materials will be provided.
 
WHAT TO BRING: Please bring a notebook, and a plastic bag to take home your wet yarn, to be dried at home.
 
Caroline is an experienced natural dyer, teacher and has written a natural dye book. She was recently awarded a distinction as a natural dyer by the Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. She is now undertaking research into the fading (and reproduction) of historic textiles which would have been dyed naturally.
