SUNDAY 2.30 - 4.30pm

Join Hannah at this interactive class where you will be able to dye your own skein of yarn. We will work through the process of hand dying protein yarns using acid dyes from beginning to end.

Have you ever wondered how your favorite independent dyer manages to keep the colors on the skein separated? Or how the colour stays so vibrant and doesn’t just leak out when you block your new project? Weku will provide a range of coloured dyes so that you can let your imagination run wild. Your skein of yarn will either be a nylon and merino mix or 100% merino in a fingering weight yarn weighing 100g. These are perfect for mini projects such as socks or single skein shawls. By the end of the class you will be able to take what you have learnt and start dyeing your own yarn for projects at home.

In this class you can join one of the groups to dye your colours, each group will dye a different effect, variegated, speckled, striped etc.

Hannah is one half of Weku Yarns a company who create bright and colourful variegated yarns. Weku was born in April 2021 by Hannah and her sister Lydia after a discussion about bringing the bright colours from West African cloth and capturing it in yarn. Weku means family in their father's native Language Ga and you will find elements of their Ghanaian heritage throughout their colourways.

You will need to bring: an apron, a face mask, and a plastic zip-lock bag to bring home your creation as it will still be wet.
